Family Guide to Oral Health

Kiwi Dental is proud to be a family-centred dentistry practice serving patients of all ages in the Oakville community. This includes everyone from our youngest patients to our wisest patients. We value our patients' time and health and have made it a point to make everyone feel comfortable in our dental chairs. In fact, we hope that you even look forward to your visits with us! To promote superb oral health for your whole family, we've put together the following list of a few dental care reminders:

  • Talk Openly About Teeth

Talk regularly to your children and family about teeth. Share positive dental experiences with your children so dental visits don't sound so scary and unfamiliar. Let them know the value of having healthy teeth and why oral hygiene contributes to overall wellness. Teach your children how to brush and floss properly, and set a good example of caring for your own teeth with daily at-home care and regular dental visits. Remind each other to practise daily dental hygiene and good health habits, such as regular handwashing, adequate sleep, and balanced nutrition. It's easier to be healthy when a family encourages and supports each other!

  • Practice Good Habits as a Family

Good habits are contagious. When you care about having healthy teeth, your children are more likely to follow suit and care about their own teeth. We've made our office a place for families to enjoy together. Utilize our family block scheduling so that you can all come in together, rather than having to schedule multiple appointments on different days. Not only will this save you time, but it allows for family togetherness that revolves around health and well-being!

  • Make Dental Care Exciting

Dental care is our passion, so we try to make it exciting for everyone. We encourage you to do the same in your family to spark in all of your loved ones a lifelong habit of healthy living. For little ones, a sticker chart and electric toothbrush can jazz up their oral hygiene routine. Moreover, let your kids pick out their toothbrush (as long as it has soft bristles) and toothpaste flavour. Consider following up a family outing to our office with a rewarding trip to the park, bowling alley, skating rink, or library. And most importantly, express praise and appreciation to your loved ones when they take care of their health. Good health allows for a wealth of opportunities, both because we can do more for ourselves, but we can also better serve each other.

Schedule Checkups for Your Entire Family!

Keep practicing good health habits and share the gift of wellness with future generations through example, instruction, and encouragement. And contact us if it’s time to set up appointments for your family. We look forward to seeing you soon.
