The Invisalign Process

Invisalign clear aligner therapy uses sets of aligners to gradually reposition your smile. The first step in the process is to use smile preview software to digitize your smile and take any necessary impressions. Next, we will send these to an off-site lab where your custom aligners will be created. Your aligners will be given to you in sets that you will switch out every few weeks and you’ll visit our office approximately every six weeks for a checkup. This process will continue until your teeth are in their desired positions.

Caring for Your Aligners

When not taken care of and cleaned properly, your aligners can harbor cavity-causing bacteria. Ensure you’re removing them prior to eating and brushing your teeth thoroughly before putting them back in. It’s important to only consume clear liquids while wearing your aligners as colored beverages can stain them. Additionally, make sure you have a protective case to hold your aligners when not wearing them.

What is the difference between traditional braces and Invisalign?

The main difference between traditional braces and Invisalign is their material. Traditional braces use metal wires and brackets to reposition your teeth, while Invisalign moves them with clear, plastic aligners.
