Is a tooth abscess an emergency?

An abscess is a pocket of pus on your tooth that looks like a pimple, which can be of various colours like white, yellow, or red. Initially, abscess looks like it will disappear on its own, which is not usually the case. An abscess typically causes fever, swelling of the face, and pain.

An abscess affects the gum and the root of the tooth and can spread to other parts of the body if treatment fails to commence immediately.

A common remedy for an abscess is mixing a half teaspoon table salt with eight ounces of water and using the solution to rinse your mouth several times daily before you visit a dentist. An abscess can go untreated for as long as you wish, but it depends on your ability to tolerate pain and your immune system.

The problem of taking long with an untreated abscess is that it results in long-lasting implications.
