Common Dental Emergencies

Injuring your mouth as a result of falling

The first place you rush after an accident is an emergency room for immediate medical attention. You may realize that you have a painful mouth, or your loose is loose. The best advice is to contact your dentist for an immediate checkup to confirm you do not have broken jaws.

Tooth Pain

The degree of pain that your teeth feel determines how serious the problem is. Extreme pain calls for immediate medical attention and is, therefore, a dental emergency. Aching only comes when you bite something is not an emergency but may be a sign of an abscess.

You can use ice pain to reduce pain on your aching tooth as you wait to see a dentist.

Knocked-out tooth

A knocked-out tooth is a case of a dental emergency but can less harmful if adequately managed. When you have a knocked-out tooth, it is advisable to hold the tooth at the crown and not the root and try to replace it to its position if possible.

In most cases, it is not possible to replace a knocked-out tooth, and the best remedy is to put it in milk or in water that contains table salt. After placing your tooth in milk or water and table salt solution, visit a dentist before an hour lapse after the tooth knock-out.
